Ears of Corn

Here's my pattern of the day today - I was kind of just focusing on colour, and not really thinking about the imagery, but kind of think it looks like ears of corn. Anyway I'm off to Copenhagen tomorrow, so hopefully will come back next week with lots of Danish inspired patterns!

Simple Circles

I'm been aching this week to do some really simple patterns, as I've been getting very frilly and fluffy this week! Here's my simple circles.

More Girly things..

Another pattern designed for little girls - I actually drew this while at work the other day with a little group of children, might try doing it again if there's a quiet minute!

More with the Wacom

Happy Monday everyone! Here's my latest doodling with the wacom, I have to say I'm still really struggling and can't help but find it so much easier drawing with my mouse, but it is fun. Am trying to not even worry what anything looks like at the moment too, hopefully I'll reach a turning point soon :-)

Little Girls

I've lately been working on some patterns for little girls textiles. They're perhaps a bit sugary pink for me at the moment, but I'll be working on it!

Awards!

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of being awarded the Liebster Blog award and Kreativ Blogger award! Both awards are simply to encourage bloggers and showcase others. I don't think I've really ever won anything, so am chuffed to bits! Anyway I was awarded the Liebster Blog award by the fantastic Sam Tickner of the Creative Hub blog which is always feast for the eyes and great source of inspiration. The Kreativ Blogger award was awarded by the lovely Deb of the Making Life More Beautiful Blog, this blog always has amazing projects and ideas, and is a cracking read! Definitely 2 blogs worth taking a look at!

I thought I'd kind of amalgamate the 2 awards - for the Liebster Award...

My mission, which I have accepted is:
1) Create a post on my blog and add the Liebster blog image.
2) Link back to the person who gave me the award and say if I accept.
3) Choose 3-5 of my favourite blogs, link to these in my post and tell these lucky bloggers that they've been tagged.

The Kreativ Blogger award says to choose 10 blogs and then 10 facts about me - so here are my 10 (although I could easily write sooo many, I have to say I'm a total blog addict!: I haven't written a description about each, only cos there's so many, but they're all amazing, and well worth a look!:

All my linkees, I now encourage you to do the same! Just choose whichever award you would prefer and then link to some other blogs. Oh and almost forgot, 10 facts about me:

1.) I have a Blue Peter badge. Oh yes!
2.) I can dance a mean Cha Cha
3.) Chocolate brownies are my signature dessert
4.)I'm pretty much addicted to twitter and blogging (although you probably knew that!)
5.) This song was the first dance song at my wedding - Made Up Lovesong - Guillemots (it's beautiful)
6.) I put on my pjamas pretty much as soon as I get in from work - and if I'm working at home stay in them until lunchtime!
7.) In a previous job I spent quite a lot of time being the company's hand model - unfortunately, now my hands are ruined through paint, clay, ink and have had to go into retirement!!
8.) I once worked as a dreaded double glazing telesales person (worst job ever!)
9.) I enjoy toasted bagels thickly smeared with philedelphia - unless the cheese is about an inch thick it's not worth having.
10.) It's my Mum's birthday today!

Cute Fish

I've these fish from my earlier tropical pattern - I just felt they needed a pattern of their own to swim around in.

Tropical fish

I was thinking these might make a good pattern maybe for childrens swimming costumes or armbands or something. Am really enjoying using bright colours at the moment.

Under The Sea

Carrying on with the tropical theme, here's some under the sea shenanigans.

Feeling Tropical

Although it's definitely feeling warmer and a little more spring like, it's not quite as warm as these tropical patterns are making me feel! Was thinking hawaiian shirts and hula girls! They're not quite their yet, but hopefully with a few tweaks they will be :-)

Mother's Day Window Pattern Design for Springfield Florist

Springfield Florist asked me if I would be interested in designing a fabric for the backdrop in their Mother's Day Window - I had worked with them before for the Chelmsford Arts Trail, and they are absolutely my favourite florists in Chelmsford by far, so I jumped at the chance! Please come and have a look if you happen to be in Chelmsford -they're situated at the far end of Moulsham Street. It was really hard to get a good picture because of the reflections, but I think you get the idea.

Menswear

Some menswear designs for today, I have to say I find it so hard to not go for girly colours! But I don really love doing menswear things, I think it makes me think more if that makes sense?!

Silly Post

I've been really slack with the blogging this week, somehow something else has always seemed to have gotten in the way. I've missed it so much though, so will definitely be posting a pattern a day again soon. Anyway, just thought I'd pattern myself up a bit for my profile pic :-)

Cat Card

What can I say - this little Kitty just had to be drawn today. I'm trying to make her into a card design but can't think of any witty cat related greetings! Will have to have a ponder...

Repeat-x Repeat-y

A couple of weeks ago I submitted two of my patterns to Repeat - x Repeat - Y, and today they've gone live! The patterns on the site are from a range of artists/illustrators/designers and can be downloaded completely free for your desktop wallpaper - there are some really cool patterns on there, I have my dark blue floral and bikes print on there. To take a peek please go to: http://repeatxrepeaty.com/.

What Katie Did..

My friend Katie is getting married and wanted me to design some save the date cards, she definitely wanted scrabble tiles on it and the colours blue and orange. These are just my initial ideas, they are by no means finished yet, but thought I might post them as a work in progress. Definitely need to sort out the type and stripes but I think they're getting there :-)

The Most Amazing Book!

I received the most amazing book in the post yesterday from the lovely Sam Tickner, she's an illustrator that I've been following on twitter for a while now and I just love her work. She's one half of Firecatcher - an ward winning multi - disciplinary studio founded in 2006 with Rebecca Peacock. They have an amazing website www.firecatcher.co.uk, it's so inspiring I was really excited when I first found it!

Anyway back to the book, it's just so gorgoeus, my photos really don't do it justice.

It has really lovely all different texture and patterned papers inside...

and I just love the colours, really natural and yet still bright and uplifting.

And I had to put this picture on from Sam's Blog, it's one of my absolute favourites.
Thank you Sam!x

Paisley Floral 2

I didn't think I really experimented much with this pattern from a few weeks ago, so just thought I'd try a smaller scale and deep blue background.

Cars!

I don't even drive yet, but I was pretty incensed to hear today that the European court has stated that insurance prices cannot be decided by gender, meaning that women will have to pay up to 25% more and men a little less on their car insurance. It's not even that I mind so much about that it particular, it's more the point that generally speaking women still are paid about 30% less than men in the same jobs, and to my mind isn't it about time we rectified that? Very annoying! Anyway here's my pink cars pattern in protest!
