I was inspired by a post on the Lolita and Me blog to collage our old ikea table with one of my patterns. I thought I'd give it a go with the 50's style blue print I designed last week, and spent pretty much the whole of saturday sanding and painting and varnishing. Unfortunately I think the printer paper I used was too thick and so it really didn't stick well and has all puckered up horribly! (Heidi, I don't know how you got yours so smooth and lovely!) Oh well, lessons learnt and all that - I'm pleased with the grey colour we painted with the legs and the blue, but will definitely have to brush up on my decoupaging skills!
Oh what a shame it looks great from here and such a cool colour/pattern.
ReplyDeletelove the pattern and I think it looks great too !!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kat and Cherry :) fortunately all the wrinkles didn't come out on camera!x
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kat and Cherry the pictures make it look fab...can you not pull the wrinkles off as how it was supposed to be? 'Aged' perhaps? hehe. Sorry it didn't turn out as you hoped! Are you going to try again? Or is it not so bad, and can leave it as it is?x
ReplyDeleteHehe, that's definitely worth a try! I think we'll probably live with it for a while, and if we see and really nice coffee table to replace it at some point we'll get another. To be honest it was a really cheap table, and this is it's 2nd makeover! We had painted stripes on it and had it like that for a couple of years, but eventually all the paint starting chipping off, so it's had a good life!xx
ReplyDeleteIt looks fab to me! I think we need to see more pics of your new abode. ;)
