In the run up the big day....

While I am by no means a royalist, and can completely understand how some people are a bit angry about the costs etc, But, I do like a celebration, - and I can't help but get swept up by the excitement! Yes, I will be watching (mainly to see the dress) and am all in all pretty happy that I get an extra day off with Ian to have a very lazy Friday with lots of food, drinks and merriment!

Anyway, wouldn't it be sooo much better if the union jack was patterned? I think so anyway. (Featuring spots and yesterdays folky flowers).

Lovely Post!

On Friday I was lucky enough to win a blog giveaway, by one of my favourite artists Andrea Farmer. Andrea creates the most beautiful paintings, which I always find just so tranquil and comforting to look at. I actually have another piece of Andrea's artwork which I got from the artist swap shop at the Shiny Shed - it's hung in my living room and everyone always comments on it. I won this gorgeous painting which I LOVE.....

As well as this precious little book of Andrea's inky landscape drawings, which I have much admired over on her blog.

Here's a close up of one of my favourites. Please excuse the quality of the pictures, they really don't do the the pictures justice (unfortunately my cameras battery was flat and am too impatient to wait to blog!)

Beaullah's Boutique

This weekend I ran a Workshop at Beaullah's Boutique, which has just opened in Chelmsford. This particular booking was for a Hen night, which I thought was such a good idea, there was tea, pretty cupcakes, nibbles and pink lemonade! And of course buttons, how everyone always loves buttons! I taught how to make vintage button necklaces alongside little felt flower brooches, it was so lovely seeing people enjoying making something, which aswell as being bang on trend will always hold a resonance that they made it at this particular hen night. People were comparing buttons, admiring others handy work and generally having a lovely time in a relaxed and comforting atmosphere. To find out about other workshops held at Beaullah's Botuique, please visit their website: http://beaullahsboutique.co.uk/

Hen Night!

I'm doing a workshop for a Hen Weekend on Saturday, and thought I'd make a little card for the bride to be. I found it quite hard to draw a hen so will have to get practicing a bit more for Easter related patterns! Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Fabrics

I fancied seeing how my new orange floral design would look as a fabric for a dress, wallpaper, and a cushion. Very bright, but I think I rather like them!

More April Flowers

While I liked the muted colours yesterday, just thought I'd try this pattern with a brighter outline and background, think I like the orange best.

April Flowers

Some muted but still sunny flowers today, hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. Today is my first day of the Easter Hols so I get a little bit of a break from teaching - and lots more time for designing.... and munching on eggs!

Copenhagen

On Monday I got back from the very inspiring Copenhagen for my lovely Mr Coote's 30th birthday. Both being massive fans of Scandinavian design we were really excited about going, and we weren't disappointed. We stayed in an amazing hotel called Hotel Fox, which is a 'creative lifestyle' hotel, where about 60 artists/designers/illustrators were given free reign to design the rooms, walls, ceilings, carpets....
This was the breakfast room:

And our fabulously kitsch 'Two Swans' Room, it was so cute! If a little scary at times to wake up to these creatures:

And how could anyone not love a hotel which had this carpet!

I loved this sticker in the lift :-)

These little birdies stole my heart...

A gorgeous book window display.

I just loved the bright coloured circles on the grey on this ice cream shop.

It was really such a beautiful and inspiring place and I would definitely recommend it to everyone :-)
