Chirp, chirp!

I'm already thinking about Easter coming up, so thought I'd show these little chicks who would like to say hello!

Firstsite

Yesterday I had a sneaky peek tour around the new Firstsite building in Colchester. I was really excited as I'd heard lots about the planning and building in the last couple of years so was really intrigued as to how it would be. I was astounding by the size and presence the space has. The outside structure is pretty amazing, the curved D shape of the building is to symbolize a Roman Centurian's helmet. I loved the way that the designer had incoporated links to Colchester and the exact history of the site. I think it's going to be an incredible thing for Essex and I can't wait to visit properly in September when its finished.

Can't say I really enjoyed wearing the hardhat and hi-vis jacket - it did not go with my Cath Kidston!

Cats and rabbits!

Not really sure about the reason, but it's cats and rabbits for todays pattern!

Blue China

Have just been looking at some pictures of lovely blue and white china which inspired me to do todays pattern. Quite like the simplicity of limiting myself to only 3/4 colours, makes the colourful days all the more special.

Tigerprint

Today I was really excited to be featured on the Tigerprint blog. I frequently visit the site to look at new designers, competitions and inspiration. Lately it has featured some of my favourite new designers so was very pleased to be in their company. To check out the post please click here. Many thanks to Vic for writing it.

Tea for two

Yesterday Ian took me to Harrods for afternoon tea as a birthday treat which was just lovely, all silver teapots, tiny sandwiches and endless cups of tea and pretty cakes!

We also went the London Art Fair in Islington which was really good, was lovely to wander round gazing at all the art I wish we could own. Sadly it was all generally out of our price range (but well worth the price) but it was great to look around and take it all in.

One artist I really enjoyed looking at was that of Simon Laurie, I got one of his postcards which I'm going to pin to my notice board:

Dad's Website

A guitar theme for todays pattern -I was aching to put polka dots on it, or something equally feminine, but thought that it just wouldn't suit the inspiration for it (Dad!) My Dad has just launched his website: www.robblackman.com - fantastically designed my Mr Coote. Has little snippets of his music, future gigs and workshops - he's really really good, and yes I am a little biased, but it's still true :-)

Nature-Inspired Pattern

Morning! Still working from yesterdays organic nature inspired 50's style pattern, I think I like it best with the pale white background rather than a colour, can't decide.
Have a good day everyone x

Thought I'd liven up the dreaded Blue Monday with a few splashes of bright green, turquoise, orange and pink!

Mum's Cherries

I just love cherries, can't wait for it to be summer so I can eat more and more of them! I've sneakily used my mum's appliqued cherries for todays pattern - taken from her picture 'Celebrate Summer'. Check out her blog here: www.sharonblackman.blogspot.com

Spirograph

Just a silly spirograph pattern today, makes me think of doodling in boring lessons at school (generally maths and science!)

Games

Todays pattern is inspired by those little plastic games that you used to get - (not sure if you can), like jacks and little skittles.
