Celia

Following on from yesterdays pattern I thought I'd give it a try with some stripes and spots in the background. The swirly bits or 'jelly tot' bits are inspired by one of my favourite textile designers Celia Birtwell, so have named it 'Celia'.

Brrrrr!

I have the heating on full blast and yet still and sitting at my desk shivering today! Although no snow here still unfortunately :-(

Anyway, just found a load of pattern drawings I must have done while working at the shiny shed a while ago, quite excited as I now have a whole new lot of things to try out. Incidently the shiny shed will be back! There's a fundraiser coming up on Thursday - please go to:

for more details about this exciting new art centre!

Tutti Fruiti

Having looked back on prints I did at Uni yesterday, suddenly remembered how much i enjoy doing fruit related patterns. An apple a day and all that.

Go Bananas!

Bit of a cheat today, as this was a pattern I did a long time ago at Uni, but have never shown it online before so here goes.

Thanks to everyone who came to the fair today! As usual I spent fair too much - at least I have a few more presents sorted now!

A Pattern A Day: Mum's Shirt

The colours in todays pattern are inspired by my mum's clothes - she often wears blues and purples, I think this would make a good shirt for her. x

A Pattern A Day: Vintage Tea dance

Just got in from a lovely Vintage Tea Dance (organised at Anna @ www.bettyblueeyesvintage.com). Had such a lovely time filled with lots of tiny cucumber sandwiches, pretty cakes and plenty of tea. The only down side was that my dancing has a lot to be desired! Me and Ian just about managed to attempt the 'Lambeth Walk' without too many sore toes! Today my patterns were inspired by the dance - I was thinking of all things 1940's and vintage and was thinking bunting, I might tried some hand drawn varieties in the next few days.

A Pattern A Day: The Wedding Saturday

To celebrate Sarah and Rupert's wedding today I've made another heart pattern, using the Timmy Mallet design I made a while ago for the cutout. Big congratulations to the happy couple! x

A Pattern A Day: Tiles again!

Bit of a sampler today, quite nice choosing all different patterns to see how they look alongside each other.

A Pattern A Day: All A Flutter

These are all reworked from the 'Lucienne' design collection I did a while ago for the Chelmsford Arts Trail. I'm not usually one for a crisp white background, but I think it works quite well here with the fluttering butterflies. Really like the cut out shape with pattern inside, I might just try some more...........

Work Space

Morning! I've been getting really inspired by seeing pictures of other peoples workspaces on their blogs, so thought I'd have a bit of a tidy up and take a pic of mine. I have to say this is the tidiest it's been for a long time!

Wednesday 17 November 2010

A Pattern A Day: A bit tweedy

I think this would look good as a men's shirt print, bit of a similar tone to yesterdays print - perhaps I'll have to pull out the bright colours again for tomorrow.

A Pattern A Day: Vintage

A vintage flavoured post for today, very simple, but am liking the brown and cream.

Monday 15 November 2010

A Pattern A Day: A bit more 70's..

Just a really quick one today as am off to do a brooch making workshop this eve, lots of cutting and sewing to do! This is very simple, but v.retro I thought - might try adding some other textures this week.

A Pattern A Day: More Stationary

I've had lovely day at Balckthorpe Barn in Suffolk seeing my mum's stand at the show. Lots of lovely stalls, I particularly loved seeing Penny Bhadresa's lino prints, this one was my favourite:

I just love the colours and shapes used. To see more of her work please go to: http://www.pennybhadresa.co.uk/

After a bit of a desk tidy up, am now feeling in the mood for a few more stationary patterns.

A Pattern A Day: Fr-fr -fr Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! Had the feeling for a floral today, quite delicate, not quite sure I've got the colours right yet, but am liking the grey/pink.....

A Pattern A Day: Tiles...

Such a horrible rainy day today, was determined to a sunshine bright pattern in response but it didn't seem to happen. I was very drawn to a nice bright turquoise though, this pattern turned out to be quite tile -y.
